We have five doctors all with broad skills in primary medical care. We do have our own areas of special interest and expertise and we are happy to work together as a team to provide the best overall care for our patients.
Bruce Page has been a principal GP at Marina Medical since 1985. Obstetrics was a big part of Bruce’s life for 18 years but sadly this had to be let go. Bruce and his wife Juliet have three sons and one daughter – all still living at home. One son has decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and is currently studying medicine at the University of Auckland. Bruce enjoys all aspects of primary care with a particular interest in men’s health, paediatrics and sports medicine. He has been the resident doctor at Western Springs Speedway since 1983. Bruce has a postgraduate diploma in obstetrics along with a fellowship in general practice.
Catherine McArthur has over 25 years experience as a GP and has been at Marina Medical for the past 9 years. Catherine is experienced in all aspects of primary care and has a particular interest in women’s health and care of the elderly. Catherine and her husband Rob have three sons and a daughter, two of who are married. Catherine has a postgraduate diploma in obstetrics along with a fellowship in general practice.
Donna Lahood has been in the practice for 16 years initially working part time as a locum and then coming on board growing her own practice when we shifted into the new premises in August 2009. Donna enjoys and is experienced in all aspects of primary care and has a particular interest in women’s health. Her son is also studying medicine at the University of Auckland, gaining entrance this year. Donna is the doctor for Team NZ and her husband, Paul Wilson, is the physiotherapist. Paul, Donna and their two children were lucky enough to enjoy two periods in Valencia during the last Americas Cup. They are both involved with the Team NZ yacht Camper in the Volvo Ocean Race and are also helping with the medical/physiotherapy care for Team NZ as the next America's cup approaches.
Rebecca Thompson returned to medicine and joined Marina Medical 4 years ago after a break to have a family. She and her GP husband Bryn have four children - three sons and a daughter. Rebecca provides us with a very capable extra pair of medical hands two mornings per week - she does not have her own patient list. Rebecca enjoys all aspects of primary care and has post graduate qualifications in obstetrics, and paediatrics along with a fellowship in general practice.
Vincent Chan joined Marina Medical in mid 2010 coming on board because Bruce needed another Y chromosome in the team - and to cater for the rapid growth in patient numbers that is taking place. Vincent emigrated from Hong Kong at age 10 and attended local schools. His college years were spent at St Kentigern. He and his pharmacist wife Pam have one son, Isaac. Cantonese speaking patients will be pleased to know Vincent remains fluent in his native language. Vincent has a broad range of medical skills and experience and has postgraduate diplomas in paediatrics and community emergency medicine. He also has a fellowship in general practice.
