Marina Medical provides a broad range of primary medical care services for all age groups. Here are some of our newer services:
- Visits are free for enrolled children under 6.
- Sexual health visits are free for young people up to age 22. Visits for contraceptive prescriptions are free for those aged under 20 years.
- We have developed programmes to provide extra services for those with chronic medical conditions. Please check with one of our practice nurses to see if you might be eligible for one of these programmes which provide extra nursing input along with markedly reduced fees for quarterly visits.
- Scroll down to see what we are doing for men's health - the Men's WOF - a major initiative for the men of our community.
- We have a resident dietitian, Alda Lee, who provides excellent advice for weight, diabetes and cholesterol management. Alda can also advise patients with special dietary requirements such as food allergy and Coeliacs disease.
- A Counties Manukau District Health Board physiotherapist attends our rooms on Tuesday afternoons. Bernie specialises in helping both men and women with urinary continence problems. This is a free service provided by the DHB and requires a referral from your GP.
- Cardiac Rehab @ The Marina is a new initiative for those in our local community with cardiac health problems. This programme has been developed with the assistance of Marina Fitness, Marina Specialists, Marina Physio, EastHealth and other independent health care providers. Check out the details in our News section.
Associated Health Providers
We are developing other services in conjunction with allied health professionals within the Compass Building.
Marina Specialists is right next door and consists of a growing team of surgical, medical and paramedical specialists. Contained within Marina Specialists is an operating theatre for procedures under local anaesthesia and sedation.
We are working closely with Marina Physio who, in addition to the usual physiotherapy services, are providing activity based programmes to help manage chronic medical conditions and musculoskeletal problems. They call the programme Activity Works - check it out on their website.
We are also excited to have Marina Fitness in the building - the newest of the Manukau Leisure fitness centres. This upmarket club boasts top trainers, the latest easy to use equipment, and an intimate group fitness studio.
Marina Care Chemist is situated adjacent to the entrance foyer on the ground floor of the Compass Building. Pharmacist Brenda Fisk operates closely with us to meet all your prescription dispensing needs. You can phone Brenda on 534 5638.

The Men's Warrant of Fitness (WOF)
At Marina Medical, we are concerned that while there are many health initiatives for other groups in the community there is little being done to target men's health issues. Many of the major health risks that men face - like colon cancer, prostate cancer and heart disease - can be prevented or treated with early diagnosis.
For these reasons we have decided to offer a comprehensive screening programme for the men of our community. We are targeting those over 40 but we are happy to see younger males who want assessment. Identifying risk factors early is the key. Check out the fun promotional video that was created for a Men's Health talk given by Dr Page and Dr Chan in the local community in August.
The Men's WOF includes:
- a pre-assessment health questionnaire for you to complete
- allow up to one hour for a comprehensive initial assessment
- measurements will be taken including your weight, height, abdominal girth and blood pressure
- a full physical examination is performed with particular attention to the areas that have already been identified as of potential concern
- various blood tests - some of these are basic screening tests, others may be specific to you according to any identified health needs
- a follow up appointment with the doctor to put all the information together
- a comprehensive personalised written report summarising the findings and recommendations
Phone reception to book your Men's WOF or ask to speak to one of our nurses if you would like further information.
